Solar vs CFE Electricity Costs in Los Cabos
Solar can reduce the electricity you buy from CFE, but the size of the reduction depends on your tariff, actual use, the system design and how power is credited. A high bill by itself does not tell us the right panel count or a believable payback period.

What your CFE bill tells you
Start with the tariff printed on the bill, kWh used over the billing period, dates, and the consumption history. How to compare staying with CFE and adding solar

A useful comparison shows the assumptions and a range of outcomes. It should distinguish solar energy used in the home from energy sent to the grid. Do not treat every kWh produced as the same cash saving, or a simple division of equipment price by one unusually high bill as a reliable payback calculation.
When batteries change the decision
Solar panels connected to the grid do not automatically power your house in an outage. If refrigeration, internet or selected air conditioners must keep running, discuss the actual loads and backup circuits. Batteries add cost, and their usable energy and inverter output limit what runs and for how long. What a Los Cabos solar quote should include
Ask for the panel and inverter models, battery model if included, mounting and electrical scope, proposed interconnection path, exclusions and payment schedule. The written comparison should state the tariff and use history it assumes. Questions homeowners ask
Will solar eliminate my CFE bill?
Do not assume so. The bill depends on your actual use, system production, tariff, interconnection treatment and remaining charges. Request a property-specific estimate.
Can solar move me out of DAC immediately?
No immediate tariff change should be promised. CFE uses a consumption history and its applicable rules. Review your bills and confirm any later classification with CFE.
How many panels do I need?
Start with kWh use, available mounting area and the loads you want to cover. Panel count alone cannot tell you expected savings.
What if I have no CFE bill?
Send an appliance list with power ratings and expected daily run hours, especially air conditioners, pumps and refrigeration. That supports a preliminary design; measured use may later change it.
Do batteries lower the bill more than panels?
That depends on when you use electricity and how the system operates. A battery also serves backup goals, which should be priced and evaluated separately.
Will grid-tied solar run during a blackout?
Ordinary grid-connected solar equipment does not automatically provide outage power. A suitable backup design requires compatible equipment and wiring for the chosen loads.
What affects payback?
Your installed cost, tariff, actual kWh use, solar production, maintenance and future changes in occupancy and electricity use. A fixed payback claim without those inputs is unreliable.
Can I compare a solar-only quote with one that includes batteries?
Yes, but compare the scope separately: solar production, backup capacity, usable storage, backed-up circuits, installation work and total price.
